Ἡ ταυτότητα τοῦ Συλλόγου ΕΦΤ

Ὁ Σύλλογος Ἑλλήνων Φίλων τοῦ TeX, γνωστὸς καὶ ὡς «Ἕλληνες Φίλοι τοῦ TeX» (ΕΦΤ γιὰ συντομία) ἀποτελεῖ τὴν ἐπίσημη Τοπικὴ Ὁμάδα τοῦ TeX ἢ τὸ ἑλληνικὸ TeX LUG (Local Users Group). Ὁ ΕΦΤ ἱδρύθηκε τὸ 1997 στὴν Ξάνθη καὶ ἀποσκοπεῖ στὴν διάδοση τῆς ποιοτικῆς ἑλληνικῆς τυπογραφίας μὲ τὰ σύγχρονα ἠλεκτρονικὰ μέσα, καὶ εἰδικότερα στὴν διάδοση τοῦ συστήματος TeX γιὰ τὴν στοιχειοθεσία ἑλληνικῶν κειμένων. Ἐπίσης, ὁ ΕΦΤ συνδράμει στὴν βελτίωση καὶ ἐφαρμογὴ στὰ ἑλληνικά δεδομένα τῶν ἐργαλείων τοῦ συστήματος TeX καὶ στὴν δημιουργία νέων ἐργαλείων (π.χ. LaTeX, XeTeX, κ.λπ.) ποὺ διευκολύνουν τὴν παραγωγὴ ἐντύπων στὴν ἑλληνικὴ γλώσσα, ἀρχαία καὶ νέα. Τέλος, στοὺς στόχους τοῦ Συλλόγου συμπεριλαμβάνεται καὶ ἡ μελέτη, διατήρηση καὶ ἐφαρμογὴ τῶν ἀξιῶν τῆς παραδοσιακῆς ἑλληνικῆς τυπογραφίας στὴν ἐποχή τῶν Η/Υ.

Συμμετοχὴ καὶ διοίκηση

Ὁποιδήποτε ἄτομο ἡλικίας δεκαοκτὼ (18) ἐτῶν καὶ ἄνω ποὺ συμφωνεῖ μὲ τὸ καταστατικὸ τοῦ ΕΦΤ (ἀρχεῖο PDF) μπορεῖ νὰ γίνει μέλος τοῦ Συλλόγου. Θὰ πρέπει γι' αυτὸ νὰ στείλει στὸν πρόεδρο τοῦ Συλλόγου ἐνυπόγραφη ἐπιστολὴ στὴν ὁποία θὰ δηλώνει ὅτι ἐπιθυμεῖ νὰ γίνει μέλος καὶ ὅτι πληροῖ τὶς παραπάνω προϋποθέσεις. Ἐπίσης, ἡ ἐπιστολή θὰ πρέπει νὰ περιέχει τὸ πλῆρες ὀνοματεπώνυμο καὶ τὸ πατρώνυμο τοῦ ἐνδιαφερομένου, τὴν διεύθυνσή του, ἀριθμὸ τηλεφώνου ἢ καὶ ἠλεκτρονικὴ διεύθυνση.

Τὰ ἄτομα ποὺ γίνονται δεκτὰ ὡς μέλη, πληρώνουν 15,00 € γιὰ τέλη ἐγγραφῆς. Ἡ συνδρομὴ εἶναι 12,00 € ἐτησίως ἢ 6,00 € ἀνὰ ἑξάμηνο. (Γιὰ περισσότερες πληροφορίες σχετικὰ μὲ τὰ τέλη ἐγγραφῆς καὶ συνδρομῆς, καθὼς καὶ τοὺς διάφορους τρόπους πληρωμῆς, κάντε κλὶκ ἐδῶ.)

Τὸ κυρίαρχο ὅργανο ἄσκησης ἐξουσίας τοῦ Συλλόγου εἶναι ἡ Γενικὴ Συνέλευση. Tὸ Διοικητικὸ Συμβούλιο ἔχει μόνον ἐκτελεστικὴ ἐξουσία, ἐνὼ ἡ Ἐλεγκτικὴ Ἐπιτροπὴ ἐλέγχει τὶς δραστηριότητες τοῦ Διοικητικοῦ Συμβουλίου.

Δραστηριότητες

Ὁ Σύλλογος ἐκδίδει ἀνὰ ἑξάμηνο ἕνα περιοδικό, Τὸ Εὔτυπον, τὸ ὁποῖο διατίθεται δωρεὰν σὲ ἠλεκτρονικὴ μορφὴ μέσῳ τοῦ Διαδικτύου, καὶ συνδράμει στὴν ἔκδοση βιβλίων σχετικῶν μὲ τὸ TeX καὶ τὴν τυπογραφία. (Τὸ περιοδικὸ ἔπαψε νὰ κυκλοφορεῖ τὸ 2018.)

Ἐκτὸς τῶν ἐκδόσεων, ὁ Σύλλογος συμμετέχει στὴν συντήρηση τῆς ἑλληνικῆς ἐπιλογῆς (καὶ ὄχι μονον) πακέτων γιὰ τὸ LaTeX, καὶ βοηθάει στὴν ἔκδοση καὶ διάδοση ἑλληνικῶν ψηφιακῶν γραμματοσειρῶν.

Ὁ Σύλλογος συμμετέχει στὶς προσπάθειες τῆς παγκόσμιας κοινότητας τοῦ TeX γιὰ τὴν διάδοση τεχνικῶν ποιοτικῆς ἠλεκτρονικῆς τυπογραφίας. Στὰ πλαίσια αὐτῶν τῶν προσπαθειῶν, τὸ 2004, ὁ Σύλλογος ὁργάνωσε τὸ 25ο Παγκόσμιο Συνέδριο τοῦ TeX (TUG 2004).

Τέλος, ὁ Σύλλογος ἔχει κλείσει συμφωνίες μὲ ὁρισμένους ἐκδοτικοὺς οἴκους, ὥστε τὰ μέλη του νὰ προμηθεύονται βιβλία γιὰ τὸ ΤeΧ καὶ τὸ LaTeX, γιὰ τὶς γλῶσσες επισήμανσης (XML, HTML, κ.ἄ.) καὶ τὸν λογοτεχνικὸ προγραμματισμὸ σὲ μειωμένες τιμές.

The identity of the GTF Group

The Greek TeX Friends Group (or GTF for short) is the official Greek LUG (Local Users Group). GTF, which was founded in Xanthi, Greece in 1997, aims at the advancement of high-quality Greek typography by modern electronic means, and, more specificaly, at the promotion of Greek document typesetting by TeX. Moreover, the GTF is committed to the enhancement and adaptation of the TeX family of tools and the development of new tools (e.g., LaTeX, XeTeX, etc.) that will facilitate the creation of documents written in the Greek language, ancient and modern. It is also our intention to work and study the preservation of traditional Greek typography values in the digital era.

Membership and administration

Anyone above 18 years of age and willing to comply with all articles of the bylaws of GTF (PDF file, in Greek), can become member of the Group. Any person willing to become member must hand a signed letter of application (an e-mail message will not be accepted) to the President of the Group, in which it must be clearly stated that he or she wants to become a member and that he or she fulfills the admission requirements. Furthermore, the letter of application must state the applicant's name, father's name, address, phone number and (if existent) his/her email address.

Admitted applicants must pay a registration fee of €15.00. All members pay an annual subscription fee of €12.00, or €6.00 every six months. (For membership and payment information, please click here.)

The ultimate governing power of the GTF Group lies with the General Assembly. A small Executive Commitee is dealing with everyday issues, while the Audit Commitee inspects the activities of the Executive Commitee.

Membership benefits

The Group publishes twice a year a newsletter, the Eutypon, which is distributed for free in electronic format though Internet, and contributes to the publication of books related to TeX and typography. (The publication of the newsletter ceased in 2018.)

Beyond that, GTF contributes to the maintenance of the Greek option (and not only) of packages for LaTeX, and the release and distribution of Greek digital fonts.

GTF participates in the efforts of the global TeX community to promote techniques of quality electronic typography. Along this line, in 2004, GTF organised the 25th Annual TeX Users Group meeting (TUG 2004).

The Greek TeX Friends have concluded agreements with some international publishers, so that the members of GTF can buy books on TeX/LaTeX, mark-up languages (XML, HTML, etc.) and literate programming at reduced prices.
